“... paintings are vibrant and possessed with a sincere optimism.”
“Face Value: Eye-Catching Portraits Bring Pride (and Warm Socks) to Needy Patients at a Seattle Clinic”
“portraits are sold nationwide not for dollars, but for shelter supplies such as socks, gloves, and meal tickets.”
Gone but not forgotten
Mary Larson, a registered nurse at Harborview Hospital's Pioneer Square Clinic, wipes a tear as she remembers one of her patients whose name she recognized on the list of deceased. He had been one of her subjects for a painting. Larson paints portraits of patients and sells them to help finance the headstones for the graves.
“...a feast for the eyes and a balm for the soul”
